Ignasi Verdós
born in Terrassa, Barcelona, Spain in 1934, among a family devoted to
the Fine Arts and generally interested in all artistic activities. When
he was a child, he was employing the major part of his free time, in drawing,
instead of playing and mainly creating portraits using his family and
mainly his grandfather as a model. |
||||||
In one of his trips, he discovers a small and typical village MURA and attracted by that small village and its surrounding landscape, he look for and found the opportunity to buy an old country house, where later on, he installed his atelier. Many of his paintings were made there. MURA is a village where many well known artists have been living and painting. Finally his atelier has been used and converted in a Museum and Art Gallery. Verdós also cooperates with the City Hall in the Annual Painting Concourse, where painters from different places are going to Mura for such event. In Terrassa, our painter also installs his atelier and a painting school,
cooperating with his wife. That place is also used for exhibits and
artistic happenings. |

Ignasi
Verdós shows in his paintings a personal and special sensibility,
as for the treatment of the landscape, as for the hues he uses, generally
soft and transparent. His colours and themes are transporting the visitor
to an ideal vision. His great aim is the atmosphere representation on the
work he is creating and it is shown in the major part of his works.
I think that Verdós is working under an austere painting, in accordance to the landscape painters of the XX century. As the journalist Santi Palos says, with an inspiration on the romantic painting of the end of XIX century and the beginning of XX century. The techniques employed of “frottes”
and “veladuras” (blurred/muffled), as described by the art
critic Joseph Boix are represented in large canvas showing vaporous and
evanescent images which ones have created a high interest on his last
Art exhibitions. |

Art representation
done in his works, as all that is real art, it is self explanatory, it is
seen from the brave reds applied on the canvas to describe earth of the
rocks erosions in MURA, to the transparent, clear and light colors of the
pirinees skies. |
|||||||||
If
we read opinions from different art critics expressed in gallery brochures,
news-papers and art magazines, the balance of his painting is highly positive,
surely due because his landscapes are fully integrated in a suggestive
atmosphere and also offering very well established chromatic strokes.

However, as he says, he has not assumed all targets that he continuously is looking for, but it is clear that he has open a sound and a bright trajectory among the painters group of the named Terrassa School, where he is a well known member. | ![]() |
